Bible Word of the Day
Author of Life (Author of Creation)
Meaning
The title “Author of Life” and the title “Author of Creation” are special titles applied to Jesus. The Apostle Peter when speaking to the crowd on the Day of Pentecost told them, “but you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Author of Life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.” He was speaking of Jesus and this speech happened on the Day of Pentecost which was a day that came after the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus. A day when God poured out His Holy Spirit on mankind and indwelt all believers. Jesus not only created life, but He gives eternal life to those who accept Him by faith. Moreover, through our faith in Jesus, we have a more abundant life today as the Holy Spirit changes our hearts and minds, conforming us to the will of God.
In addition the Apostle John in the first chapter of the Gospel of John speaks of Jesus and says, “In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God. He was with God in the beginning and He was God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” This is the passage where Jesus is called the Author of Creation because we learn that Jesus not only brought creation into existence, but that everything was made by Him and through Him. In addition, all things are held together by Him. And it’s these passages along with hundreds of others which speak of the divinity of Jesus, and His role in the Godhead as the Second Person of the Trinity.
“Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.” (Book of Acts 5:31)
“The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. ‘But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.'” (Book of Acts 3:13-15)
“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” (Book of Hebrews 2:10)
