Apostle’s Creed (Statement of Christian Faith)
Meaning
The Apostle’s Creed was a statement of Christian faith. And it was meant to show the harmony of the Bible. To show the harmony between the Old and New Testaments and the rule of faith which is the teaching of God’s word. It was meant as a summary of the core of Christian teaching. This statement of faith received its title because of its great antiquity. Scholars believe it dates from very early times in Church history, shortly after the last writings of the New Testament. This would place the creed’s origin sometime after 95-100 AD. The Apostle’s Creed is a summary of the Gospels, and a declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus who is a Holy God, who stepped out of eternity and into humanity in order that He could bear the Cross and save us from condemnation because of our sins.
“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen” (Apostle’s Creed – Modern version)

Whence he cometh to judge the living and the dead.
